Art Therapy

I believe that the process of art making and symbols created can help to gain insight into the whole person: mentally, physically, and spiritually. The unfolding of one’s own creativity, self-insight, and acceptance can help to move forward through transformative work.

Children, Teens & Adults

I work with children, teens, and adults in the state of Colorado.

As a divorced mother of two young children, I have witnessed the healing power of art in difficult family transitions and how art can aid in the discussion of understanding big feelings, providing an outlet for anxiety, anger, and sadness in the navigation of these transitions.

I have experience working in a variety of settings: providing individual and group art therapy in a residential treatment facility for adolescents, in hospice care with adults and elders, as well as art instruction and social engagement in a studio setting for adults experiencing neurocognitive challenges.

Allison Tibbetts,

MA, LPCC

Hello, I am Allison. I received my Masters of Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, specializing in Transpersonal Art Therapy. I am registered in the state of Colorado as a Licensed Practicing Counselor Candidate. I work with children, teens, and adults of all ages.

I have witnessed the numerous ways in which art can communicate an individual’s experience when words are not enough. Through the lens of Transpersonal psychology and the application of a person-centered, strengths-based approach, I utilize art therapy as a tool with clients to support their mental health needs and encourage personal growth.

My special interests include working with grief and loss, hospice/palliative care, divorce/blended families, anxiety and depression, life transitions, and existential experience/questioning.
